Is 37 points enough to stay up ?
|
Just looked on the bbc website and it says the average points to stay up is 37 points http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43202293
il take that but where will are 7 points come from and will it be more than 37 needed to stay up
here are the games left Swansea (a) Burnley (h) Southampton (h) Chelsea (a) Stoke (h) Arsenal (a) Man city (h) Leicester (a) Everton (h) Man utd (h)
looking at our remaining fixtures i think we can get 10 points and hit the magic 40 points im going for 2 wins and 4 draws
2 wins are Burnley (h) Stoke (h) 4 draws are Swansea (a) Southampton (h) leicester (a) Everton (h)

I'm thinking 39 given you could throw a blanket over 7th to 19th with only WBA starting to get detached. 40 to be safe ..... actually 4 more wins to be certain Lets stop buggering about and just win the next 4 FFS

Frankly if we can’t get 10 points from that fixture list then we deserve to go down. Chips are down, it’s time to deliver.

The BBC website said 37 points are enough to stay up, then predicted Stoke and Swansea to go down on 38 points.
We should be able to get at least 10 points from our 10 games. If we don’t, we deserve whatever we get.

I think someone will go down with 40 points this season but not us!

We should be ok, we should easily reach 37 and probably do better, but I’ve also seen some pretty flat and charitable performances against sides around us this season that still has me worried. Swansea is a case in point, they’re a different side recently and it’s hard to see us getting more than a point there if that.

Swansea (a) only 11 goals at home so if we don't concede. WIn
Burnley (h) Decent away but shit form. Draw
Southampton (h) 1 win in 5 (Away to WBA). Win
Chelsea (a) Too many ifs and buts on this one regarding FA cup and CL quarter-final qualification. Shit form at the moment but the game is over a month away Draw
Stoke (h) -21 GD away Win
Arsenal (a) Shit form but lost only 2 at home one to City. Lose
Man City (h) LOSE
Leicester (a) FA cup ifs and buts form is shit at the moment.Draw
Everton (h) Too far off unless you guess
Man Utd (h) As above
12 points from 8 games

Hard to say of course..3rd bottom now is on 27 pts with 10 games left...all the sides this season seem capable of winning on an given day so I'd say 38-40 will be required.

39/40 should be enough It's going to be close because any or most of the bottom 8 could put a run together & there are no whipping boys cut loose at the bottom this season

I'll be disappointed if we don't get a win today, we're practically back to full strength with some good attacking options.
The results from the next 5 games will decide if we're going to be safe for the run in. 8 points from the next 5 games and we're safe It's just a shame we're back to working out what we've got to do to stay up rather than sitting in 7th /8th place looking down at a relegation fight that were not involved in!

I can only see a draw at best today as they're in really good form and we're a load of old shit.

Some back of the envelope (literally) working out based on averages so far this season says we need 39 points to stay up. So we need 9 more. I think we'll get 14.
There are some very winable games there, of which we'll obviously lose a few, but we always get a couple of surprise results against the top teams so I'm optimistic.

Logic and math and our form say that we really should not worry, no matter how rubbish we think our players are (based on last week's game).
There are a lot of teams below us, we have more than enough winnable games and we have bounced back after bad losses with Moyes before.

What will be will be, but we seem to have got back into the habit of shifting too many goals again.Shortage of good players won't help our run in one bit.

Reckon we may well need the 40 points to be safe.Remember under Grant we had 31 points with 9 games to go,and look what happened. We only got another 2 points from those final 9 games.

Are 30 points enough to stay up ?
|
If WBA beat Crystal Palace and Stoke City, and Crystal Palace and Stoke City draw*, and these three teams lose all their other fixtures, then we are already safe.
*I'm assuming these three games have yet to be played. If any of these fixtures have already gone, things are looking even BETTER for us.
